Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Ball Joint, Upper

    Ford Motor Company recommends that new ball joints should not be installed on used control arms and that the control arm be replaced if ball joint
replacement is required. However, aftermarket ball joint repair kits which do not require control arm replacement, are available and can be installed
using the following procedure.    The ball joints are riveted to the upper and lower control arms. The ball joints can be replaced on the car by removing
the rivets and retaining the new ball joint to the control arm with the attaching bolts, nuts and washers furnished with the ball joint kit.    When removing
a ball joint, use a suitable pressing tool to force the ball joint out of the spindle.
