Brake Lamp: Description and Operation
Voltage is present at the Stop Lamp Switch at all times through Fuse 7 and circuit 10 (LG/R). Depressing the brake pedal causes the Stop Lamp Switch
contacts to close. Current now flows through Fuse 7, circuit 10 (LG/R), the Stop Lamp Switch and circuit 511 (LG) to the Multi-Function Switch and the
Hi Mount Stop Lamps. Inside the Multi-Function Switch, current is directed to circuits 5 (O/LB) and 9 (LG/O) to the stop/turn filaments of the Rear
Park/Stop/Turn Lamps. The stop lamps and the Hi Mount Stop Lamps illuminate until the brake pedal is released.
With the Stop Lamp Switch contacts closed, current also flows to the Speed Control Amplifier, the Anti-Lock Brake Module and the Electric Brake
Controller Connector.
