ISSUE:
Some vehicles may experience a "moaning" or "hooting" noise coming from the engine compartment while the engine is operating under normal
conditions. This noise may be coming from the Idle Air Bypass Valve.
ACTION:
Install a new Idle Air Bypass Tube and Resonator Assembly. Refer to the following service procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Start the engine and verify the "moan" or "hooting" noise coming from the engine compartment, in the area of the Idle Air Bypass Valve and Tube
Assembly.
2.
Disconnect the wiring harness at the 40 pin connector and move it out of the way to allow removal of the Idle Air Bypass Valve Tube and Nipple
Assembly from the air cleaner resonator. Refer to Figure 1. Discard tube and nipple assembly.
