Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
Intake Manifold Components
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
3.
Remove the vacuum line from the pressure regulator.
4.
Remove the three allen head retaining screws from the regulator housing and discard.
5.
Remove the pressure regulator assembly, gasket, and O-ring, discard gasket and O-ring.
6.
Clean gasket sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION
1.
Lubricate a new fuel pressure regulator O-ring with clean engine oil.
CAUTION: DO NOT use silicone grease. It will clog the injectors.
2.
Verify the gasket sealing surfaces are clean.
3.
Install the new gasket and O-ring on the regulator.
4.
Using new allen head screws install the pressure regulator on the fuel rail assembly, and tighten the retaining screws to 3.0-4.5 Nm (27.0-40.0 in
lb).
5.
Install the vacuum line to the regulator.
6.
Connect the negative battery cable.
7.
Turn the ignition switch ON/OFF several times to pressurize the fuel system.
8.
Check for fuel leaks.
