Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect negative battery cable.

2.

Remove serpentine belt.

3.

Raise vehicle and support properly.

4.

Disconnect position sensor and A/C compressor electrical connectors from engine wiring harness.

5.

Discharge A/C system and remove A/C compressor.

6.

Remove crankshaft position sensor retaining screw. Remove sensor.

INSTALLATION

1.

Make sure sensor mounting surface is clean and the sensor O-ring is in proper location on assembly.

2.

Position sensor assembly and install retaining screw.
Tighten to 71-106 in lbs (8-12 Nm).

CAUTION:  DO NOT overtighten screw.

3.

Install A/C compressor. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.

4.

Properly route engine wiring harness and connect electrical connectors to the A/C compressor and crankshaft sensor.

5.

Lower vehicle.

6.

Install serpentine belt.

7.

Connect negative battery cable.
