Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Disconnect master cylinder from booster and position aside. It is not necessary to disconnect brake lines, but care should be taken to avoid
twisting or kinking lines.

3.

Disconnect manifold vacuum hose from booster check valve.

4.

Working inside vehicle, disconnect stop lamp switch electrical connector under instrument panel.

5.

Remove stop lamp switch retaining pin. Slide switch off brake pedal pin enough so outer plate of switch clears the pin, then remove switch from
pin.

6.

Remove booster-to-dash panel attaching screws.

7.

Slide booster pushrod, nylon washers and bushing off brake pedal pin.

8.

Slide pushrod out from engine side of dash panel and remove booster from vehicle.

9.

Reverse procedure to install.
