Voltage Regulator: Testing and Inspection

S CIRCUIT TEST--WITH AMMETER
Exc. Alternators W/Integral Regulator

1.

Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the S terminal of the regulator wiring plug Fig. 11. Turn the ignition switch to the ``ON'' position. Do
not start the engine.

2.

The voltmeter reading should indicate battery voltage.

3.

If there is no voltage reading, disconnect the positive voltmeter lead from the positive battery clamp and repair the S wire lead from the ignition
switch to the regulator wiring plug.

4.

Connect the positive voltmeter lead to the positive battery cable terminal and repeat the Charging System Test Procedures.
