TRANSMISSION - ATX - ELIMINATION OF THE REVERSE CLUTCH SELECTIVE SNAP RING REQUIREMENT

The selective snap rings are no longer required for the reverse clutch. The current snap ring, part number N800654-S, will be used for all applications.

This revision will change the assembly procedure as shown in the 1983 and Past Model Car Shop Manuals, Section 17-25, Steps 16 through 22, are
eliminated. The revised assembly procedure for the reverse clutch is as follows:

1.

Install the reverse clutch return spring and holder assembly.

2.

Install the clutch pack wave spring.

3.

Install the clutch pack.

4.

Install the pressure plate.

5.

Install the clutch pack retaining ring.
