Choke - Hard Cold Start

CALIBRATIONS:
All with ATX and Model 740 Carburetor
Cold start can be improved by installing a new choke overcenter spring and choke index spacer.
1.
Remove choke cap as outlined in the 1983 Car Shop Manual, Powertrain Escort/Lynx, EXP/LN7, Section 24-13-8 and 9.
2.
Remove original choke index spacer.

Remove and discard overcenter spring (Figure 2).
4.
Remove and discard "C" spring (Figure 2).
5.
Install a new overcenter spring 9587 (Holley 38R-2009).
6.
Install a new choke index spacer 9A539 (Holley 40R-583-3).
7.
Install choke cap, retaining ring with two (2) new rivets 9S510 (Holley 29R-1332) as outlined in 1983 Car Shop Manual, Powertrain Escort/Lynx,
EXP/LN7 Section 24-13-9.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it
