Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
Fuel Charging Assembly, Replace
4-116 Engine
1.
Remove air cleaner outlet tube between throttle body and vane air meter.
2.
Remove accelerator and speed control cables, as equipped, from accelerator mounting bracket and throttle lever.
3.
Disconnect top manifold vacuum fitting connections.
4.
Disconnect hoses from PCV valve at intake manifold connection.
5.
Disconnect vacuum line from EGR valve, then the EGR tube from upper intake manifold.
6.
Remove top bolt and disconnect upper support manifold bracket.
7.
Disconnect electrical connectors from main engine harness and ECT sensor located in heater supply tube.
8.
Disconnect fuel supply and return lines, then remove manifold attaching nuts.
9.
Remove top bolt and disconnect lower support manifold bracket.
10.
Remove manifold assembly with wiring harness and gasket.
11.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure mating surfaces of fuel charging assembly and cylinder head are clean and not damaged.
b. Clean and lubricate manifold stud threads prior to installation of assembly.
c. Install charging assembly using a new gasket and secure with top middle nut finger tight only. Install fuel return line to fuel manifold, then
two manifold nuts finger tight. Install remaining three nuts, then torque all six to 12 - 15 ft. lbs.
d. Torque upper and lower manifold support bracket bolts to 15 - 22 ft. lbs.
e. Lubricate EGR tube compression nut and torque to 29.5 - 40.5 ft. lbs.
f.
Torque air supply tube clamps to 12 - 20 inch lbs.
