Certain 1983-model year Escort/Lynx vehicles equipped with 1.6L engines manufactured at the Wayne Assembly Plant from February 25, 1983 through
March 7, 1983.
Description of Condition and Correction
Some of the described vehicles above were manufactured with incorrectly positioned thermactor air supply hoses. Vehicles experiencing this condition
may exhibit levels of exhaust emissions that exceed applicable standards.
Ford is recalling-these vehicles to correct this condition. Correction will consist of replacing the existing thermactor air supply hoses with new hoses.

Notification of Owners
The enclosed list identifies units delivered to your dealership which are involved in this recall. Vehicles affected by this recall and not yet delivered to
the owners must be corrected prior to delivery. The owners of vehicles for whom names and addresses are shown are being notified directly by First
Class Mail. In those instances where an affected vehicle has been sold, but the owner's name and address is not listed, you should contact the owner
immediately and provide him a copy of the attached owner letter. If the owner of an eligible vehicle cannot be contacted or does not make an
appointment to have his vehicle corrected, return the Customer Notification and Dealer Claim Form (FCS 1864) to us with the owner's name and address
indicated so that we can handle further notification. Eligible vehicles, other than those on the list provided, may be brought to your dealership by their
owners for this recall service. Those units are also to be corrected as promptly as possible. If the owner of an eligible vehicle does not have a Form 1864,
a blank form should be completed by you and sent in for reimbursement.
Dealership Obligations
Dealers are obligated to perform the recall services promptly following tender of the vehicles by the owners. It is important that you promptly report to
your FPSD District Office any instance in which an owner will not allow you to complete this recall because of objections to scheduling or for any other
reason.
