On some vehicles, the front seat belt may be lazy in retracting to the stowed position. This condition is caused by the quarter panel inner sheet metal not
nesting tight to the "U" channel reinforcement. This creates interference between the head of the shoulder bolt and D-ring, causing the belt to retract
slowly. To correct this concern, remove and discard spacer from behind the D-ring and belt attaching bolt. This will allow the D-ring to rotate freely. See
the following instructions and Figure 3.
Vehicles exhibiting front seat belt retracting problems resultant from the seat belt D-ring being stiff in movement, can be repaired as follows:

1.

Slip finger behind the D-ring cover and pull bottom of cover toward center of vehicle. Then lift up to remove cover.

NOTE:

Seat belt bolt bit T77L-2100-A or equivalent, should be used for seat belt bolt removal and installation.

2.

Remove belt attaching bolt and spacer; discard spacer.

3.

Replace D-ring, bolt (torque 22-32 ft.lbs.) and cover.

4.

Test belt and rotation of D-ring.
