Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Toothed Ring
Removal
1.
Remove wheel hub cap.
2.
Loosen but do not remove axle stub shaft nut using a 40mm socket and ratchet.
3.
Raise vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
4.
Remove spring clip retaining rotor to hub. Remove two caliper anchor bracket retaining bolts.
5.
Remove parking brake cable from retaining bracket. Remove brake pad wear sensor connector from retainer on caliper.
6.
Remove caliper assembly from rotor. Remove rotor.
7.
Remove six T-32 Torx head bolts securing axle stub shaft to halfshaft. Rotate the halfshaft to gain access to all six bolts.
8.
Lift outer end of halfshaft upward and position away from stub shaft. Remove axle stub shaft nut and washer.
9.
Remove hub from axle stub shaft using 2-Jaw Puller D80L-1013-A or equivalent. Remove axle stub shaft from rear carrier assembly.
Installation
1.
Install axle stub shaft into rear carrier assembly. Position hub onto axle stub shaft.
2.
Install axle stub shaft nut and washer. Do not tighten. Position halfshaft assembly to axle stub shaft. Grease joint if necessary.
3.
Install six T-32 Torx head bolts. Tighten to 28-32 lb-ft. Rotate the halfshaft to gain access to all six bolts.
4.
Install rotor and spring clip retaining rotor to hub. Install caliper assembly onto rotor. Ensure brake pads are properly positioned.
5.
Install two caliper anchor bracket retaining bolts. Position parking brake cable into retaining bracket. Install brake pad wear sensor connector to
retainer on caliper.
6.
Install tire and wheel assembly. Lower vehicle.
7.
Tighten axle stub shaft nut to 185-213 lb-ft. Install wheel hub cap.
