SURROUND SEAL - POOR FIT/PROTRUDES AT FENDERS

MERKUR 1985 XR4Ti

Some 1985 Merkur XR4Ti vehicles may have a protruding rubber seal in the area between the grille panel and leading edges of the fenders. This concern
was corrected in production for 1986 model (September 2, 1985) with the introduction of a revised seal which is now available for service.

To service the concern, remove the grille panel (4 attaching screws) and discard the old seal. Clean the mating surfaces, position the new seal and
reinstall the grille panel.

NOTE:

Before reinstalling the grille panel, refer to TSB Article 85-19-2 (dated September 26, 1985) to assure proper panel retention.
