Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Removal
1.
Remove approximately {1/3} of brake fluid from master cylinder.
2.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assembly.
3.
Disconnect wear sensor electrical connector at harness.
4.
Remove caliper to anchor plate attaching pins and lift caliper assembly off rotor without disconnecting hydraulic hose. Anti-rattle spring will fall
off when caliper assembly is removed.
5.
Remove inboard and outboard pads.
Installation
1.
Using suitable tool, push piston back into caliper bore, being careful not to damage piston boot.
2.
Install inboard and outboard pads, removing backing paper from outboard pad before installation.
3.
Position caliper over rotor, ensuring brake pads are properly engaged on anchor plate. Sensor wire must be positioned between caliper and
anchor before installing caliper attaching bolts. When caliper is installed, ensure that brake hose has not been kinked by rotation of
caliper.
4.
Install caliper to anchor attaching pins, torquing bolts to 18-23 ft. lbs.
5.
Install anti-rattle spring.
6.
Connect wear sensor ensuring that O-ring is in proper position.
7.
Position wear sensor electrical connector in routing clip.
8.
Install wheel.
9.
Pump brake pedal before moving vehicle to properly position brake pads.
10.
Check master cylinder, adding fluid as necessary.
