Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Raise and support vehicle.

3.

Remove tire and wheel assembly.

4.

Remove brake drum.

5.

Disconnect and cap wheel cylinder brake line.

6.

Pull primary shoe away from wheel cylinder. The self-adjuster cam will rotate outward, holding the brake shoes away from the wheel cylinder
assembly.

7.

Remove wheel cylinder attaching bolts, wheel cylinder and O-ring.

8.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque wheel cylinder attaching bolts to 5-7 ft. lbs.
