Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

1.

Remove transmission and flywheel.

2.

Punch small hole in metal portion of rear face of seal.

3.

Install sheet metal screw in punched hole.

4.

Using slide hammer or roll head pry bar, remove seal.

5.

Clean seal groove and seal surface of crankshaft.

6.

Apply suitable engine oil to interior sealing lip of seal and to crankshaft seal surface.

7.

Position seal on installer tool T82L-6701-A or equivalent.

8.

Using two bolts supplied with tool, or two flywheel bolts, pull seal and tool onto crankshaft by tightening bolts alternately, then remove bolts and
the tool.

9.

Install flywheel and transmission.
