1.

Disconnect battery ground cable and remove valve cover.

2.

Rotate engine in direction of normal rotation until base circle of camshaft lobe of selected valve is contacting cam follower. Ensure that other
valve of that cylinder is also closed.

3.

Using valve spring compressor tool T74P-6565-A or equivalent, compress valve spring until cam follower can be removed out and over the
hydraulic lash adjuster.

4.

Install a compressed air adapter in spark plug hole with a minimum of 140 psi air pressure available, then turn on air pressure to hold that
cylinder's valves against their seats. Both valves must be closed to hold air pressure.

5.

Depress valve spring and remove locks, spring retainer, spring and seal.

6.

Fasten rubber band or string to valve key groove to prevent losing valve if a valve is opened or the air pressure drops.

7.

Inspect valve stems for scores, sticking, excessive or obvious stem to guide clearance and eccentricity or wobbling when rotated. If any of these
conditions exist, the cylinder head must be removed for further inspection and service.

8.

Apply air pressure through spark plug holes to hold valves closed. Install new valve stem seals using valve seal installer T73P-6571-A or
equivalent and the plastic installation caps, Fig. 4.

9.

Install valve springs, spring retainers and keys and remove air pressure adapter.

10.

Depress valve springs and install cam followers.

11.

Install valve cover and throttle body.
