EEC Processor - Engine Surge at Wide Open Throttle

This modification is authorized only for the listed engines. Performing this modification on other engine calibrations is unauthorized and
could create liability under applicable federal or local laws.
The 1985 Merkur XR4Ti, equipped with a manual transmission, may experience a surge at wide-open throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear, in the 4,000-5,000 rpm
range. If this condition is present, quick test the EEC IV system using Rotunda Star Tester 007-00017 or equivalent, to verify the system is operating
properly. If no fault codes are present (other than codes 26 and 67 per TSB 85-4-29), replace the EEC processor according to the procedure listed below.

1 . Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Remove the right hand sound deadening panel attached to the bottom of the instrument panel (see Figure 18).

With the panel removed, pull the ECA processor down out of the mounting bracket (see Figure 19).
