DISASSEMBLY
1.
Mount steering gear in a suitable holding fixture.
2.
Remove tie rod end locknuts and the tie rod ends.
3.
Remove bellows clamps, then the bellows, Fig. 2.
4.
Slowly turn steering rack from lock to lock and drain fluid from pressure and return ports into a suitable container. If rack is allowed to turn,
pinion damage could result during ball joint removal.
5.
Secure flat surface of rack in a suitable vise, then remove ball joint and tie rod assemblies.
6.
Turn steering rack clockwise to left hand lock position, then remove housing cap from lower pinion valve housing. Remove locknut and washer.
