Center steering gear, then measure and record the distance rack extends from pinion end of housing, Fig. 3. Also, mark relationship between
pinion spline and housing for assembly reference.

Remove yoke cover attaching bolts, then the yoke cover, shims and spring.
9.
Remove dust cap, then the upper bearing circlip from pinion housing.
10.
Remove pinion shaft and valve assembly from housing using a pulling and twisting motion. Use care to avoid contaminants from entering the
valve body or sleeve valve.
11.
Remove oil seal and upper pinion bearing from input shaft. The valve and pinion assembly must not be disassembled.
12.
Remove and discard all Teflon seals and the O-ring seal tensioners under the seals.
13.
Retract rack, then remove circlip retaining rack support bearing and seal.
14.
Remove steering rack with rack support bearing and seal from rack tube.
15.
Remove Teflon ring and O-ring from rack assembly using tool No. T71P-19703-C or equivalent.
16.
Remove lower pinion bearing circlip, then drive bearing out using a soft punch.

Install housing bore protector, then remove lower pinion valve seal from pinion housing using tools shown in Fig. 4.
18.
Remove yoke from valve housing.
19.
Carefully drive inner rack seal and nylon washer from steering rack using a {3/4} inch socket with an 18 inch extension.
