Wiper Motor: Service and Repair
FRONT WIPER
Removal
1.
Turn wiper motor ON, then when blades are straight up, turn key OFF.
2.
Remove arm and blade assemblies, then disconnect battery ground cable.
3.
Remove locknut from motorshaft, then remove motor arm from motor.
4.
Remove three motor attaching bolts, then the motor.
5.
Disconnect electrical connector at motor.
Installation
1.
Connect electrical connector at motor, place motor in position and torque retaining bolts to 7-9 ft. lbs.
2.
Connect wiper motor arm to shaft of windshield wiper motor, ensuring that key of motor arm is aligned to shaft, and torque locknut to 13-15 ft.
lbs.
3.
Connect battery ground cable.
4.
Before installing arm and blade assembly on pivot shaft, cycle motor to ensure that it is in PARK position.
REAR WIPER
Removal
1.
Unclip plastic clip from base of wiper arm, unscrew wiper arm securing nut and remove nut and washer.
2.
Open liftgate and carefully pry out liftgate trim panel clips from their locations, then remove trim panel.
3.
Remove three bolts attaching wiper motor bracket to liftgate, and the screw attaching ground lead, then disconnect electrical connector at motor.
4.
Remove motor from liftgate, disconnecting rear washer supply hose from wiper.
Installation
1.
Reconnect rear washer supply hose to wiper motor, then position motor in liftgate by pushing output shaft through grommet in liftgate outer panel
and torque three attaching bolts to 4-5 ft. lbs.
2.
Install wiper arm and securing nut, torquing nut to 12-13 ft. lbs.
3.
Install liftgate trim panel, then check operation of system.
