Montego AWD V6-3.0L VIN 1 (2005)
11. Remove the generator to engine front cover stud.
12. Remove the generator to engine front cover bolt.
13. Remove the 3 pin-type retainers and the radiator splash shield.
14. Remove the 2 A/C compressor bolts and the 2 A/C compressor nuts.

Support the A/C compressor with mechanic's wire.
15. Remove the 2 A/C compressor bracket-to-engine front cover bolts.
16. Remove the nut and detach the ground wire from the engine front cover stud bolt.
17. Remove the 14 bolts, stud bolt and the engine front cover.

Remove and discard the gaskets.
Installation
1. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools
cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of sealant.

Clean all sealing surfaces with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep.
2. NOTE: The engine front cover must be installed and the bolts tightened within 4 minutes of applying sealant.
Apply a 6 mm (0.23 inch) diameter dot of silicone gasket and sealer to the cylinder block, lower cylinder block and cylinder head mating surfaces.
3. Position the engine front cover and install the 14 bolts and stud bolt.

Tighten in the sequence shown to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Attach the ground wire to the engine front cover stud bolt and install the nut.

Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and the bolt.

To install, tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the 2 A/C compressor bracket-to-engine front cover bolts.
^
Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Position the A/C compressor and install the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
8. Position the radiator splash shield and install the 3 pin-type retainers.
9. Install the generator to engine front cover bolt.
^
Tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the generator to engine front cover stud.
^
Tighten to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
11. Install the generator to engine front cover stud nut.
^
Tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
12. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
13. Connect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
