Locate imprinted part number on speed control cable. See Figure 1.

Locate build date code at the end of the part number. See Figure 1.

NOTE:

If build date is illegible, proceed to SERVICE PROCEDURE.

Cross reference build date code with the key below:

BUILD DATE CODE KEY:
(XXX X X)
First position (three digits) = day number of year, e.g. 012 = January 12; 335 = December 1 
Second position = supplier identification 
Third position = year, e.g. 8 = 1998; 9 = 1999

If the build date code is December 1 1998(335 AB) or later, NO SERVICE ACTION IS REQUIRED. Return vehicle to customer.

NOTE:

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT YEAR CODE, AS THE DAY CODE WILL START OVER ON JANUARY 1, 1999 (001 A9).

If the build date code is November 30, 1998 (334 A8) or earlier, the speed control system must be disabled. PROCEED TO SERVICE
PROCEDURE.
