Lobe Lift

1. Use the Dial Indicator With Bracketry to measure the camshaft intake lobe lift.

Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest dial indicator reading from the highest dial indicator reading to figure the camshaft lobe lift.

2. Use the Dial Indicator With Bracketry to measure the camshaft exhaust lobe lift.

Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest dial indicator reading from the highest dial indicator reading to figure the camshaft lobe lift.

Lobe Surface

1. Inspect the camshaft lobes for pitting or damage.

-

If pitting is excessive, replace the camshaft as needed.
