Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE:  The 5.0L is shown, the 4.0L SOHC and the 4.0L (push rod) engines are similar.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.

2. Remove the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:

4.0L SOHC and 4.0L (push rod) CKP sensors need to be touching the damper. The CKP sensor has wear tabs that will wear off after several
engine revolutions.

Be sure sensor wiring is routed away from the battery cable.
