Wheel Bearing: Testing and Inspection
Wheel Bearing Inspection
1. WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension
vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension switch located in the rear jack storage area. Failure to do so can result
in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations.
Raise the vehicle until the tire is off the floor.
2. Note: Make sure the wheel rotates freely and the brake pads are retracted sufficiently to allow movement of the tire and wheel assembly.
Grasp each front tire at the top and bottom and move the wheel inward and outward while lifting the weight of the tire off the front wheel bearing.
3. If the tire and wheel (hub) is loose on the wheel spindle or does not rotate freely, perform one of the following actions.

On 4x2 vehicles, adjust the front wheel bearings.

On 4x4 vehicles, install a new wheel hub.
