Mountaineer 4WD V6-4.0L VIN E (1999)
4. Using the special tool, remove the front safety belt guide bolt.
5. Using the special tool, remove the front safety belt anchor bolt.
6. If equipped, remove the retractable cargo cover.
7. Remove the liftgate scuff plate.

Starting at either end and working along the liftgate scuff plate, use Windshield and Molding/Trim Removal Kit to remove the scuff plate.

Remove the liftgate scuff plate.
8. Fold the rear seat into the load floor position.
9. Using the special tool, remove the rear safety belt guide bolt.

Position the rear safety belt guide cover aside.
