Engine Coolant Temperature Sender: Service and Repair

Removal 

CAUTION:  Do not mix Standard (green) Coolant with Extended Life Coolant (orange). If mixing occurs, drain engine cooling system and
refill with originally equipped coolant type. If this contamination occurs the service change interval on Extended Life Coolant will be
reduced from 6 years/150,000 miles to 3 years/30,000 miles.
 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Partially drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the upper intake manifold.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

5. Remove the water temperature indicator sending unit.

Installation 

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Apply Ford Pipe Sealant with Teflon D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the
threads of the sending unit.
