If the vehicle is equipped with a 9-hole end cap design cooling fan motor, no service is required. Release the vehicle.

If the vehicle is equipped with a stamped slotted cap end design cooling fan motor, proceed to the appropriate inspection procedure.
COOLING FAN MOTOR OPERATIONAL CHECK -- VEHICLES WITH AIR CONDITIONING
NOTE:
The ambient temperature must be above 400 F to perform this operational check. If the ambient temperature is at or below 400 F, go to COOLING
FAN MOTOR OPERATIONAL CHECK VEHICLES WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING and follow those instructions.
1.
Start the engine and turn the defroster on.
2.
Verify the cooling fan(s) are operating.
a.
Single cooling fan applications -- Open the hood and verify the cooling fan is operating.
b.
Dual cooling fan applications -- Without raising the vehicle, verify both cooling fans are operating by viewing them from under the front
bumper and looking forward.
3.
If the cooling fan(s) operate, turn the defroster off, then turn the ignition key off and proceed to ELECTRONIC FUSE INSTALLATION in this
Attachment III.

If the single cooling fan or either fan of a dual cooling fan assembly does not operate, call the Recall Hotline at 1-800-325-5621 to order the
appropriate cooling fan and motor replacement kit, then proceed to the appropriate replacement procedure in this Attachment III. For dual cooling
fan applications, one kit will service both fan assemblies.
COOLING FAN MOTOR OPERATIONAL CHECK -- VEHICLES WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING
1.
Open the hood and locate Connector No.117 near the upper radiator support. Connector No.117 is a two-wire connector containing a green wire
with a blue tracer and a green wire with a white tracer. Disconnect the connector. See Figure 3.

KEEP HANDS AND LOOSE CLOTHING AWAY FROM THE ENGINE COOLING FAN AREA.
