Alignment: Service Precautions

DISARMING

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then the positive cable. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
2. Remove five retaining screws and steering column shrouds from column tube, then rotate steering wheel as necessary to access and remove air bag

retaining bolts.

3. Disconnect driver's air bag module connector, then carefully remove module from vehicle. Place module on a bench with trim cover facing

upward.

4. Connect Rotunda Airbag Simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to air bag sliding contact connector at top of steering column.
5. Open glove compartment, then lower compartment to floor by pressing inward on sides.
6. Remove four screws, then disconnect glove compartment lamp and remove glove compartment upper panel.
7. Remove A/C evaporator register duct, then remove the two retaining nuts from passenger's air bag module.
8. Remove two bolts from passenger's air bag module, then disconnect electrical connector and carefully remove module from vehicle. 

WARNING:  To prevent injury by accidental deployment, place module on a bench with trim cover facing upward. 

9. Connect second air bag simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to wiring harness in place of passenger's air bag.

10. Connect battery positive battery cable, then the ground cable.

ARMING

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then the positive cable. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
2. Remove air bag simulator from driver's air bag sliding contact connector.
3. Connect driver's air bag connector, then install air bag module to steering wheel.
4. Remove air bag simulator from passenger's air bag wiring harness, then position air bag module in instrument panel.
5. Install retaining bolts and nuts.
6. Install A/C evaporator register duct and glove compartment upper cover, then connect glove compartment lamp and install screws.
7. Install glove compartment assembly in instrument panel.
8. Connect battery positive cable, then the ground cable.
9. Place ignition switch in RUN position and note air bag warning lamp operation. Indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately six seconds,

then turn OFF.
