Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Throttle Position Sensor

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove the engine air intake resonator from throttle body.

3. Disconnect fuel charging wiring from Throttle Position (TP) sensor.

4. Remove two TP sensor retaining screws.

5. Remove TP sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Install TP sensor. Ensure that rotary tangs on sensor are in proper alignment.

CAUTION: Slide rotary tangs into position over throttle shaft blade, then rotate TP sensor clockwise to installed position only. Failure to
install the TP sensor in this manner may result in possible damage to the TP sensor or excessive idle speeds.

2. Secure TP sensor to throttle body with two retaining screws. Tighten to 2.8-3.8 Nm (25-34 in lb).

NOTE: This TP sensor is not adjustable.

3. Connect fuel charging wiring to TP sensor.

4. Install the engine air intake resonator to the throttle body.

5. Connect battery ground cable.
