Ignition Lock: Service and Repair
Lock Cylinder Non-Functional

NOTE:  The following procedure is for vehicles in which the ignition switch lock cylinder is inoperative and the ignition switch lock cylinder cannot be
rotated due to a lost or broken lock cylinder key, unknown key number or with an ignition switch lock cylinder cap damaged and/or broken to extent key
cannot be rotated.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove upper and lower steering column shroud screws, then shrouds.
3. Using a 1/8 inch drill, drill out the ignition switch lock cylinder pin.
4. Pull the lock cylinder from the steering column housing, then inspect the housing for damage. If damaged, replace the steering column.
5. Thoroughly clean all drill shavings and other foreign materials from steering column housing.

INSTALLATION 

Ignition Lock Cylinder Removal

1. Install a new lock cylinder by turning it to the accessory position and pressing in the pin with a suitable wire or drift punch.
2. Insert the ignition switch lock cylinder into the lock cylinder housing, then turn the lock cylinder to the OFF position. This permits the pin to

extend into the lock cylinder housing hole.     

3. Rotate the lock cylinder, using the key, to check for proper operation.
4. Install the steering column shrouds, then shroud screws. Connect the battery ground cable.
