Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable, then raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the engine air intake resonators.
3. Lower vehicle, then remove upper starter motor bolt.
4. Raise and support vehicle, then remove B-terminal and S-terminal nuts from starter solenoid.
5. Remove lower starter motor bolts, then the motor from the vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. When installing lower starter motor bolts, be sure to install the ground cable.
b. Torque lower starter motor bolts to 15-20 ft lb.
c. Torque B-terminal nut to 6.7-10.3 ft lb, then S-terminal nut to 44-62 in lb.
