Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection
Check current draw of windshield wiper motor.

Switch off the ignition.
^
Disconnect the connector.
^
Connect a fused jumper wire from the battery positive terminal to the positive terminal of the ammeter.
^
Connect a jumper wire from the battery ground terminal to the wiper motor housing.
^
Connect the ammeter negative terminal to wiper motor connector pin 5. As the wiper motor operates at fast speed, take a current input reading
from the ammeter. The required value is 4 A maximum.

Disconnect the wiper motor connector pin 5 from the ammeter negative terminal.

Connect the wiper motor connector pin 4 to the ammeter negative terminal. As the wiper motor operates at slow speed, take a current input reading
from the ammeter. The required value is 2 A maximum.
CAUTION: The magnets in the wiper motor can be damaged if it is dropped or knocked.
NOTE: The measuring range on the ammeter should be at least 6 A.
Check park position switch ON position.

Measure the resistance between wiper motor connector pin 2 and pin 1.

If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, proceed to the next step.

If the resistance is greater than 5 ohms, INSTALL a new wiper motor.
NOTE: The wiper motor must not be in park position.
Check park position switch OFF position.

Measure the resistance between wiper motor connector pin 1 and pin 3.

If the resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms the wiper motor is OK.

If the resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, INSTALL a new wiper motor.
