Accessory Drive Belt - Adjustment Precaution

ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT - IDLER PULLEY FAILURE - 3.0L

FORD 1986 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1986 SABLE

When the drive belt is adjusted, and if the idler pulley nut is not properly retightened, the idler pulley and bracket may twist out of alignment. To prevent
the idler pulley and bracket from twisting, the nut must be torqued to 70-95 N-m (52-70 ft.lbs.).
