Shut off the engine.
15.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes.

Remove the Orifice Tool and reconnect the PCV entry line.
17.
Reconnect the spout connector.
18.
Reconnect the air bypass valve assembly.
19.
Reconnect the electric cooling fan if unplugged.
20.
Verify that the throttle plate is not stuck in the throttle bore and that the throttle plate stop screw is setting on the rest pad with the throttle closed.
21.
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
22.
Restart the engine. With the transmission in Neutral, hold the engine speed at 2000 RPM for 30-45 seconds then allow the engine to return to idle.
Run the engine at idle to 3 to 5 minutes then check the idle speed. The idle should be 700 RPM in Neutral or Drive.
23.
Check and adjust the throttle valve (TV) linkage. Refer to the 1986 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 17-15-11.
NOTE:
The nominal controlled idle speed will be 700 RPM after performing the above steps.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
