Brake Caliper: Description and Operation
Brake Caliper

Front

The disc brake caliper assemblies consist of the following:
-

disc brake caliper which has a steel caliper piston with a piston seal and a trapped-type dust boot.

-

disc brake caliper retained to the front disc brake caliper anchor plate with two brake pin retainers.

-

front disc brake caliper anchor plate which is retained to the front wheel knuckle with two 12 mm bolts.

-

the front disc brake caliper housing that slides on lubricated disc brake caliper locating pins that are sealed from the elements by rubber boots.

Rear

The rear disc brake caliper assembly consists of:
-

a pin slider caliper housing with a single rear disc brake piston and adjuster and parking brake mechanism.

-

inner and outer rear brake shoes and linings.

-

rear disc support bracket.

-

two lubricated disc brake caliper locating pins that position the rear disc brake caliper relative to the rear disc support bracket.

-

rubber slider pin boot seals which prevent lubrication wash out and pin corrosion.
