Fig. 4 Seal seat O-ring installation

1.

Inspect compressor shaft and seal seat areas, and clean or repair as necessary.

2.

Coat new O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil. Refer to Fig. 4 and install O-ring as follows: 

a. Position O-ring guide over compressor shaft and insert O-ring into installation tool.
b. Install O-ring and sleeve assembly over guide.
c. Slide installer over guide and into sleeve, bottoming installer against guide.
d. Lift up on O-ring sleeve to allow O-ring to slip into installed position, then remove sleeve, installer and guide.
