Low Fuel Lamp/Indicator: Testing and Inspection
This system consists of an indicator light and a low fuel warning module located on the instrument panel. The module monitors the difference in
voltage potential between the fuel gauge terminals and activates the warning light when the fuel gauge indicates the fuel tank is less than 1/4 full.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON. The indicator should momentarily illuminate as a bulb check. If not, check bulb and all electrical connections.
2. If the light remains ON when tank is more than 1-4 full, disconnect connector on warning switch and turn ignition ON. Starting with the terminal
on the end opposite the blank position, connect a jumper wire between the battery positive terminal and connector terminal. The indicator light on
instrument panel should illuminate. If not, replace low fuel warning module.
3. Skip the next connector terminal and connect a test lamp between the battery positive terminal and connector terminal. The test lamp should light.
If not, trace wire from ignition switch for an open circuit.
4. Test the remaining connector terminals with the test lamp making connections between ground and terminal connectors. If lamp fails to light, trace
particular wire for an incomplete circuit.
