Chain Cover

DISASSEMBLE 

1. Remove three accumulator piston shafts, then the three accumulator pistons using lock ring pliers tool No D81P-77060-A or equivalent.

CAUTION:  Do not pry pistons from their bores.

2. Remove bi-metal retaining pin collars using lockpin removal tool No. T78P-35O4-N or equivalent, then the bi-metal strips and plate.

CAUTION:  Use caution not to damage machined case surfaces or bi-metal strips.

3. Pull retaining pins from cover, then remove manual valve detent spring attaching bolt and spring.
4. Remove quick connect oil cooler fittings.
5. Remove drive sprocket support needle bearing using suitable puller.

ASSEMBLE 

1. Install drive sprocket support needle bearing using suitable tools.
2. Install quick connect oil cooler fittings.
3. Install manual valve detent spring and position tab in locator hole. Torque attaching bolts.
4. Position bi-metal retaining pins in cover.
5. Place end of bi-metal strips with hole over front retaining pin, then install bi-metal strip retaining collars.

6. Position bi-metal height gauge T86P-70422-A or equivalent against retaining pin and under bi-metal strip.
7. Tap retaining collar onto pin until it seats against edge of tool.
8. Place slotted end of bi-metal under rear retaining pin and retaining collar, then repeat steps 6 and 7 for slotted end of bi-metal.
9. Remove slotted end of bi-metal, then use bi-metal height gauge T87P-70422-A or equivalent to set center pin at correct height.

10. Place plate slotted ends onto rear and middle retaining pins, then install slotted end of bi-metal under retaining collar.

Accumulator Piston Seals And O-rings Installation

11. Install new seals and O-rings on accumulator pistons as shown in the Accumulator Piston Seals And O-rings Installation image.
12. Install accumulator pistons in their proper cylinder.
13. Install three accumulator piston shafts.
