ISSUE:
Main control gaskets packaged inside the soft seal and overhaul kits before 12/01/87 must be selected by the color code stripe on the
gasket. This selection process is necessary to make sure the proper main control gasket is used. Incorrect gasket usage will cause the
transmission to malfunction. Main control gaskets included with the soft seal and overhaul kits after 12/01/87 will have the gaskets
packaged in separate bags for each model year with the model year marked on the bag.
ACTION:
If service is required, use the following main control gasket color code application chart to select the correct gasket from kits packaged
before 12/01/87.
