The transmission range indicator for vehicles with column shift only:

is located in the instrument cluster.

indicates the transaxle range.

operates manually with a cable attached to the transmission column shift selector tube.
An electronic display transmission range indicator for vehicles with console and floor gearshift lever:

is located in the instrument cluster.

illuminates a ring around the selected transaxle range.

receives a signal from the Transmission Range (TR) sensor mounted on the transaxle.

is back-lit by the instrument cluster illumination bulbs.

is redundant to the floor shift transmission range indicator.
