Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove the two bolts retaining accelerator control splash shield to the accelerator cable bracket. Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
2. Remove the accelerator cable snap-in nylon bushing from the accelerator pedal arm.
3. Remove the bolt retaining accelerator cable housing to accelerator cable bracket.
4. Remove the accelerator cable housing from the dash panel by removing the two screws retaining accelerator cable retainer and the accelerator
cable to the dash panel and pushing outward from inside passenger compartment.
5. Unwind the cable core wire from the pulley in the throttle body control lever and slide the cable end fitting out of slot in pulley.
6. Remove the bolt retaining accelerator cable to the accelerator cable bracket. Remove the accelerator cable from slot in accelerator cable bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Align the locator pin in the accelerator cable to the hole in the accelerator cable bracket.

Tighten the cable-to-bracket bolt to 5-7 N.m (45-61 Lb-In).

Tighten the screws retaining the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body to 8-10 N.m (71-88 Lb-In).

Tighten the bolts retaining the accelerator cable to the dash panel to 1.6-2.2 N.m (15-19 Lb-In).
