Factory fill of SAE 5W-30 engine oil started with the introduction of 1984 model Escort/Lynx and EXP vehicles equipped with the 1.6L and now with
the 1.9L engine. Tempo/Topaz vehicles equipped with the 2.3L HSC engine were introduced with SAE 5W-30 oil starting Job 1, 1985. SAE 5W-30 oil
will also be factory fill for 2.5L and 3.0L engines used in Taurus/Sable vehicles, and the 3.0L engine in Aerostar.
The benefits offered by using SAE 5W-30 oil are:
improved cold ambient starting, reduced internal engine friction and improved fuel economy (especially during extreme low ambient temperatures).
