Spindle: Service and Repair
TEMPO & TOPAZ
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove wheel assembly.
3.
Remove brake drum. Remove brake flex hose bracket to strut bolt.
4.
Remove brake backing plate to spindle bolts, then the brake backing plate. Care should be taken to ensure that brake flex hose is not stretched
and brake tube is not bent.
5.
Remove lower control arm to spindle bolt, washer and nut.
6.
Remove tie rod nut, bushing and washer.
7.
Remove spindle to strut bolts, then the spindle.
8.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque spindle to strut bolts to 70---96 ft. lbs. Torque tie rod nut to 52---74 ft. lbs. Torque lower control arm to
spindle nut to 60---86 ft. lbs.
