CALIBRATIONS: All
The above conditions are symptoms of pre-ignition, which can cause burned or melted spark plugs, valves, pistons and cylinder heads. To service
pre-ignition concerns on the above vehicles, perform the following procedure.
1.
Check the engine initial timing. Set to specification as listed on the emission decal as required.
2.
Verify that the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is performing properly:

Perform EEC Quick Test
^
Check wire harness and sensor connectors for full engagement
^
Check wire harness for miswired assembly and/or short circuits
^
Check sensor connector for excess molding material (flash) which may inhibit full connector engagement
^
Assure, by visual inspection, that the vacuum line and sensor vacuum port are clear of any obstruction
^
Replace sensor as required
3.
Check for loose spark plugs. Torque to specification as required.
