Vehicles exhibiting loss of power or stalls after cold start and driveaway can be serviced by installing a new carburetor needle and seat assembly. The
carburetor will have no fuel in the bowl when the service procedure is initiated (Figure 20).
1.

Verify the fuel flow at the carburetor by disconnecting the fuel line at the carburetor inlet fitting, using a back-up wrench. If fuel flow is OK,
continue to Step 2; if not, refer to TSB 83-13-17 and perform necessary steps to correct fuel flow.

Remove inlet fitting needle and seat and discard.

3.

Install new inlet needle/seat kit Part No. E43Z- 9564-C.

4.

Torque inlet fitting to 150 in.lbs.

5.

Install fuel line (hand start tube nut) and torque to 15 - 18 ft.lbs. using back-up wrench to hold inlet fitting.

Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
