Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
Air Induction System
1.
Remove PCV hose from the clean air flex hose.
2.
Loosen clean air flex tube clamps at throttle body and air cleaner. Remove tube.
3.
Disconnect electrical connector from sensor.
4.
Loosen and remove four sensor retaining screws.
5.
Remove sensor. Discard old gasket.
6.
Clean sensor mounting surface and air cleaner of old gasket material.
INSTALLATION
1.
Align sensor flange and new gasket to cleaner mounting surface.
2.
Install four sensor retaining screws and tighten to 45 in lb (5 Nm).
3.
Connect electrical connector to sensor.
4.
Install clean air flex tube between throttle body and sensor. Tighten retaining clamps to 24-35 in lb (2.7-4.0 Nm).
5.
Install PCV hose to clean air flex tube.
6.
Start engine and check for correct sensor operation. Check for vacuum leaks at both ends of flex tube and sensor gasket.
