Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Note: The letter "C" in the fourth digit of the VIN indicates the vehicle is equipped with Active Belts and Air Bag system
DISARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove four nut and washer assemblies securing driver air bag module to steering wheel.
3. Disconnect driver air bag module electrical connector.
4. Attach jumper wire to air bag terminals on slip ring/clockspring assembly.
5. Reconnect battery ground cable.
ARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove jumper wire from air bag terminals on slip ring/clockspring assembly, if connected.
3. Reconnect driver air bag module connector.
4. Position driver air bag module on steering wheel and secure with four nut and washer assemblies, torque fasteners to 35-53 inch lb.
5. Connect battery ground cable.
6. Verify air bag lamp.
